Privacy policy
Effective 11 October 2026. Applies to the BatteryShare apps for Android and Wear OS and the BatteryShare Rings watch face (together, "BatteryShare").
What BatteryShare handles
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Device name, model and type (for example "Galaxy Watch7") | To label each device | Your own devices and Google Firebase |
| Battery level, charging state, charging power (watts), battery temperature, battery health and when it was last updated | The core feature: showing and alerting on battery | Your own devices and Google Firebase |
| Names and battery level of Bluetooth devices paired with your phone (headphones, earbuds, speakers, and watches or fitness bands that can't run BatteryShare) | To show their battery alongside your devices | Your own devices and Google Firebase |
| Find My Device requests (which device to ring, from which device, and whether it rang) | To ring a misplaced device | Your own devices and Google Firebase |
| Battery history: readings and charging sessions from the past few weeks | Charging history, drain rates, overnight and weekly reports | Stored only on your phone; deleted when you sign out or uninstall |
| Calendar events in the next day (only if you turn on "Before calendar events") | To remind you to charge an hour before an event with a place | Read on your phone only. Never stored or sent |
| Your profile name and the avatar you pick (the name starts as your Google account name; you can change or clear it) | To show who's signed in, on all your devices | Your own devices and Google Firebase |
| Google account email and a Firebase user ID | Required to use the app: keeps your devices together in your account | Google Firebase Authentication |
How it is shared
Between your phone and watch, BatteryShare uses Bluetooth when they're near each other and Google's Wear OS Data Layer service (encrypted) when they're apart. This data stays within your own devices.
Cloud sync. You sign in with Google to use BatteryShare. The data above is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) under your account, so your other devices, such as a tablet, can see it. Security rules let only your account read or change it. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by Google. Google's processing is covered by the Firebase privacy information.
BatteryShare does not sell data, share it with third parties, use it for advertising, or include advertising or analytics SDKs.
Watch face
The BatteryShare watch face contains no code and collect no data. They only display information on your watch, including complication data you choose (from BatteryShare or other apps), which never leaves the watch through the face.
Chrome extension
The BatteryShare extension for Chrome (Windows, Mac, Chromebook) reads only this computer's battery level, charging state and estimated time left, and the name you give the computer. After you sign in (with Google, or with email and password), it stores these in your BatteryShare account so your other devices can show them, and reads your other devices' battery, your profile name and avatar, and your Pro status to show them in the toolbar.
To show insights (time left, drain against usual, charging history) it keeps up to a week of battery readings for your devices on this computer only. Alerts and notifications are created on this computer and kept for 7 days. For Find My Device it reads and writes ring requests in your account, the same way the app does, and plays a sound when you ring this computer. You can switch ringing off in Settings. It doesn't read your browsing, tabs or any website content.
Permissions
- Nearby devices (Bluetooth connect): to read the battery of Bluetooth devices already paired with your phone, using the standard Bluetooth Battery Service. BatteryShare doesn't scan for devices or use location.
- Notifications: battery alerts and reports, and the Find My Device ring.
- Calendar (optional): only when you turn on reminders before calendar events. BatteryShare reads the start time, title and place of events in the next day on your phone, and nothing else.
- Run at startup: so morning, alarm and weekly reminders keep working after a restart.
- Vibration, wake lock, audio settings and a short foreground service: to ring loudly and briefly (about 45 seconds) when you use Find My Device.
Keeping and deleting your data
Battery data on your devices is replaced as new readings arrive. Battery history on your phone keeps about a week of readings and two months of charging sessions, and is removed when you sign out or uninstall the app. Cloud data is kept until you delete it. You can delete your account and all cloud data in the app (Settings → Cloud sync → Delete account) or by following the steps on the account deletion page. Signing out stops syncing but keeps your cloud data until you delete it.
Children
BatteryShare is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
